A "NEW" 30 Year Old Time Lapse Quilt Finished from Quilts + Color

This is one of those quilts that didn't impress me when I made it but when I took it out all these years later I absolutely love it.

So many quilters are purists and will only use 100% cotton fabrics.

This contains cotton sateen, chintz, poly/cotton blend, polished cotton and that great Gutcheon cottons.

Using all these different fabrics gives the quilt texture and a lot of life.

Corn And Beans Quilt in Progress from Quilts + Color

I currently have quite a few quilts in progress that I am sharing my time working on.

I started it with left over patchwork pieces from a quilt I created about 22 years ago.
I have no idea where I am heading or how big it will get.
I did find it was more interesting diagonally.
It is one of 8 quilts I am actively working on so it only gets added to when it tells me "Work on me, see what I want you to do next?"

Yes, Quilts Were Finished in 2020 Even Though I Didn't Blog from Quilts + Color

This is a quilt that was finished in 2020. It was definitely a time lapse quilt.

I silk screened the heart motifs over 30 years ago, overdyed the squares about 8 years before I constructed it, and constructed it several years before it was finished.

It was one of 12 quilts finished in 2020.

The year started with 29 works in progress and finished with 26.

It was constructed

Quilt Made From Extra Sampler Blocks from Quilts + Color

These were blocks I used to demonstrate how to make them when I taught a sampler quilt class.

I made a king size bed quilt with similar blocks that has been used and abused and needs repair work.

There were enough blocks to make a quilt that is about 70 x 80 inches.

This also qualifies as a time lapse quilt.

How Long Does It Take To Make A 24 Inch Quilt? from Quilts + Color

This one took 34 years.
I marbled the fabric and soon after I made the blocks and sewed them into strips.
I was not impressed so I put it away for over 30 years. When I discovered it again I loved it so I finished it.

Amish Shadows Variation from Quilts + Color

This is the last quilt I hand quilted myself. When I look at the quilting closely I am impressed with the length and evenness of the stitching.
Most of the stitching was done years ago but I did the last bit of it in the past year.

NEW Time Lapse Sampler Quilt from Quilts + Color

I created this top from leftover blocks from a quilt I made for our bed years ago. I taught the blocks in a lecture demo class so made extras of most of them.
It is 78 x 64 inches.

Another Completed Time Lapse Quilt from Quilts + Color

There are many reasons why some quilts take years to finish.
I am guessing I started this 30-40 years ago.
I think I was dreading sewing all the binding by hand on the back of the quilt.

You are probably seeing this quilt larger than life size.  It is exactly the same size as the World's Smallest quilt I made which was documented in Quilter's Newsletter magazine.
The strips you see in the patchwork are 1/42nd of an inch wide.
It is a serious quilt and I have been offered big bucks for these which I won ...
